There are 2 courses with easy reach, Carcassonne and Ariege. Carcassonne is inexpensive and in beautiful condition. The golf is challenging and the greens are superb. Ariege is scenic and challenging without the quality of Carcassonne. Buggies available at both.

Mirepoix is famous for its central square and covered timber arcades. The Monday market is not to be missed. Rivers, mountains, castles, forests, mediaeval towns and cities abound. The sea is 1 hour away, skiing 90 minutes' drive. Golf at Carcassonne, karting, canoeing down the Aude, tennis, riding, Cathar castles, ' da Vinci Code ' secrets, concerts and pageants all await you! Spain and Andorra are 90 minutes away. The valleys and mountains are criss-crossed by footpaths and bridleways. The wines of Corbiere and Limoux are on the doorstep. The food is whatever you desire - but remember cassoulet comes from Carcassonne! A village family looks after the house and will help any visitors. 3 English families are tucked away in the village whom you can see or avoid as you wish.
